  • Recommended One-Way USA RV Rentals
  • Orlando, Florida, to Las Vegas, Nevada: Enjoy the Southern USA across country.
  • New York to Orlando, Florida: Meander the Eastern USA and do Disney World, the Everglades and the Florida Keys.
  • Seattle, Washington, to Los Angeles, California: Explore the West Coast.
  • New York to San Francisco, California: One way cross country USA!
  • New York to Seattle, Washington: A more northerly cross country route, if you have the time.

Although Motorvana began by representing European motorhome rental and campervan hire companies, we are based in the United States of America. Indeed we are intimately familiar with the mountains, forests, deserts, campgrounds and cities of the United States (and Canada as well). Road tripping is our living.

Incidentally the same is true of our supplier Road Bear RV Rental: it was founded by a Swiss family which had moved to California. Meanwhile, our supplier El Monte RV (and now Road Bear RV too) are owned by New Zealand company THL. Thus, rather ironically, you get good old fashioned Swiss quality and/or Kiwi campervan travel savvy right here in North America. We also represent the venerable Cruise America (but only to persons who hold a passport and driver's license from outside the USA and Canada).

Add Motorvana to the mix and you're sure to get by far the best American RV rental deal — GUARANTEED.

Cost Of Renting A RV In The USA

Motorvana RV rental USA

How much does it cost to rent an RV in the USA? Several variables determine the cost of a motorhome rental or campervan hire in the USA, including RV size, seasonality, and optional extras.

For exact total costs, please submit a SEARCH above. Our online order software will present all the RVs, whether motorhome, campervan or truck camper, ordered by price.

If you then click on the MORE INFO button below a RV image, all details about the RV, price, inclusions, depot location, and policies will be presented.

Various optional items are available for hire with a RV rental, and these greatly affect the total cost. These items (e.g. bedding, miles) are presented during the ADD OPTIONS step of our online order process, along with selectable pick-up and return times.

In many cases the RV rental company offers free miles / free kilometers and/or an inclusive package that bundles together a set of optional extras — perhaps including unlimited miles / unlimited kilometres — for one relatively low price. Again, don't worry about those packages. Just select à la carte the options you want and our software will apply an inclusive package if such is available and if such package indeed gives you a lower price than actually paying for the options à la carte.

Similarly, RV rental companies often offer specials that involve optional extras. Such specials can be complicated and hard for customers to understand. Again, our software is carefully programmed and maintained to automatically apply any specials that benefit you.

We think our software is unique in terms helping our customers optimize their RV rental and minimize their costs in these important respects. Our aim is to provide you with the best value and to increase our sales as a result.

So Easy, Cheaper than Renting an RV Direct

My husband and I are retired and we've always wanted an RV but never could fit it into our budget. We just finished our 2nd USA RV rental through Motorvana and I wouldn't start another road trip without them. Everything about renting an RV is black and white, there are no financial surprises with this company, I've found prices that are better than going through the USA RV rental companies and they make it so easy.   Read More …

This is Your First Stop for USA RV Hire

From the first email enquiry to the completed booking I have to say the whole rental process was handled very competently. I felt very safe with Motorvana handling my booking for a RV hire in the USA, communications were just great with this company, I had to make a small alteration to my booking and this was completed with no problem, I expected to have to pay for the alterations to my booking but Motorvana were able to negotiate a small refund for me. This company should be your very first stop when looking to book any of the services they offer. My RV was rented from Road Bear RV they also made the check out and check in of the camper very easy, we had a fairly new RV it ran perfect we had one small problem the help desk sorted this out for us very easily   Read More …

Customer Service & Fast Communications

We were in the US for a 9.5 week holiday, 5 of which was in a 30 foot Road Bear RV rental, booked through Motorvana. I was wary of booking through Motorvana at the start, because they had never come up in my Google "campervan hire USA" searches, and I'd only stumbled upon them while reading a forum post. However, after the first initial contact, the customer service and very fast communication especially given the time zone difference, I was put at ease and so happy to have booked our USA RV rental through them.   Read More …

Motorvana Favorite: Camper Van Hire Las Vegas Nevada

Our favorite place to start and/or end an RV tour in the USA is good ol' Las Vegas, Nevada.

Yes, "Vegas" is today a city of not only casinos, hotels and world class entertainers but also RV rentals, whether cheap or luxury, one-way or roundtrip, with unlimited miles or pre-purchased mileage. Popular one-way camper van hire routes are those between Las Vegas and Denver, Colorado; Salt Lake City, Utah; Los Angeles, California; San Francisco, California; and Seattle, Washington.

Las Vegas, whose name means "The Meadows", is now dotted with RV camping parks, many of them spacious and lovely with pools and gardens. What's more, there are an overwhelming number of unique, diverse and magnificent natural attractions — and attendant RV campgrounds — within just a few hours' drive of the city. So many attractions, in fact, that unless you have more than, say, two or three weeks it is impossible to enjoy a lion's share of these memorable spots during one motorhome or camper van hire tour. Some good planning and tough decisions are required. We recommend being careful not to bite off too much on a first Las Vegas RV rental. An initial Vegas camper rental will surely leave you wanting more — which is the way it should be!

Directly south of the famed Las Vegas Strip and the Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS, formerly called McCarran Airport) by only 13 minutes' drive is Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort. True to its name, the Oasis features a tropical theme, with cafe, convenience store, workout room, 18-hole putting course, 24/7 check-in, and two lagoon-style swimming pools. The park offers electric 30–15 and 50 amp RV hook-ups along with restrooms, showers and laundry facilities. The individual camping sites are concrete pads with small grassy patches and picnic tables. There's a dog park on the edge of the campground.

Only 10 minutes southeast of the Strip, on Boulder Boulevard, is the excellent motorhome campground Las Vegas KOA Journey at Sam's Town. They offer a free shuttle to and from the Strip. About the same distance southwest of the Strip is luxurious Las Vegas Motorcoach (LVM) Resort. Many of the individual LVM campsites come with shaded, built-in BBQ islands and outdoor kitchens with tables and chairs. Some even have a private lounge area. There are several pools and hot tubs. And the place is pet friendly. Here you will fully understand what we mean by the equation "RV rental = vacation home hire on wheels".

An hour east of the Strip is Hoover Dam and its Lake Mead. The lake is just the Colorado River backed up behind the massive dam built in the 1930s. The dam itself is an awe-inspiring attraction. About halfway to Hoover Dam is Boulder Oaks RV Resort. At Callville RV Park on the north side of the lake you can overnight in your motorhome or camper van close to Callville Bay. Farther north is the amazing Valley of Fire State Park, known worldwide for its petrified trees, bright red Aztec sandstone, and ancient petroglyphs. Near Hoover Dam, Lake Mead RV Village is actually two adjacent RV parks near the lake: Boulder Beach and Echo Bay Park. The latter is ideal for boaters and fishermen, with a free launch ramp right there and large RV camping sites with room for boats.

Highway 95 parallels the Colorado River southward from Las Vegas to Searchlight, Nevada, gateway to both Lake Mojave (another large dammed pool of the river) and the Mojave National Preserve, located in California and famed for its Joshua trees. At Cottonwood Cove RV Park you can camp within sight of the gorgeous lake. In Searchlight you can stay at Cree's Mobile Home Park. The spectacular Mojave National Preserve — home to unusual plants and trees, wildflowers, sand dunes, mountains, volcanic craters and lava tubes — also features the 5-star Hole in the Wall Campground at 4400 feet altitude. Southward in California, toward Los Angeles, the Mojave Desert meets the Colorado Desert in the otherworldy Joshua Tree National Park, a great place to camp using a motorhome or campervan hire. Adjacent is the Coachella Valley and its immaculate town of Palm Springs, a living museum of mid-century architecture.

Nearly four hours east of Searchlight is the main entrance to Grand Canyon National Park, easily one of the most beautiful places on the planet. Book your RV camping spot early. If the Grand Canyon campground at this south rim is full, consider the several RV campgrounds in nearby Williams, Arizona. Regardless be sure to check out the Grand Canyon Railway in Williams for a unique way to see the Canyon. Farther east is Arizona's surreal Antelope Canyon, a slot canyon formed by rushing water. And farther south, toward Phoenix, is the mesmerizing Sedona.

On the northeastern side of Las Vegas the Hitchin' Post RV Park & Motel offers free cable TV and wireless internet, a golf practice facility, dog wash, and heated saltwater swimming pool. The place is well appointed, well maintained and a great value. A shaded patio area has a number of cozy tables and chairs along with large TVs. Each gravel RV site has a tree beside it for shade. The park supports electric 30/20/15 amp motorhome and campervan hook-ups.

From here you can drive northwest to the Desert National Wildlife Range. Camping, hiking, backpacking and horseback riding are all popular activities enjoyed by visitors here. Yet perpetuating the desert bighorn sheep and its habitat is the chief objective of the Range. Most of the native plant species can be seen while driving your RV along the Mormon Well Road (accessed from the Corn Creek Field Station). The desert shrub community, composed of creosote bush and white bursage are the dominant shrubs in the hottest, lowest elevations. Above the valley floor, Mojave yucca and cactus become abundant. At the upper edge of the desert shrub communities, between approximately 4200 to 6000 feet (1300 to 1800 m), black-brush and Joshua trees are dominant. Above 6000 feet begin desert woodlands composed of single-leaf pinyon, Utah juniper and big sagebrush. The coniferous forest communities begin around 7000 feet. From there to 9000 feet ponderosa pine and white fir are the dominant trees. Near 10,000 feet (3000 m), where the growing season is shortest, the only trees surviving are bristlecone pines.

Just north of here is the mysterious, top secret yet infamous US Air Force facility known as "Area 51", or more officially as Homey Airport (XTA) or Groom Lake. You can approach Area 51 in your RV via State Route 375, now designated by Nevada the "Extraterrestrial Highway". People commonly report UFO (UAP) sightings along this road. The little town of Rachel, near the highway's midpoint, ministers to enthusiasts of Area 51 folklore — yet the highway remains lightly traveled. Certainly the denizens of Area 51 will consider you very special if you approach too close to the boundary; black SUVs will indeed emerge within, as if from nowhere, to at least tacitly intimidate you.

But we say RV trumps SUV!

For another kind of otherworldly experience continue north and east to Great Basin National Park. If it's true that God is time, you can get remarkably close to this ultimate of aliens by putting yourself in the presence of a 4000-year-old Great Basin bristlecone pine tree in the high altitudes of this underrecognized park. The stark yet progressively alpine landscape of the park belies its rich diversity of plant and animal life (bighorn sheep, elk, bobcat, mountain lion), Native American history, and beautiful limestone caverns.

Lehman Caves is the most popular attraction in Great Basin NP, with guided tours year round (book ahead, or on the morning of for an afternoon tour). The park's famed Wheeler Peak Scenic Drive begins near Lower Lehman Campground, passes Upper Lehman Campground, and ascends about 3000 feet over the winding course of 12 miles to Wheeler Peak Campground at 9986 feet. Roadsigns warn that motorhomes over 24 feet long are not allowed on this road above Upper Lehman Campground; the work-arounds in this respect are: hitch-hiking; parking at the trailhead of Lehman Creek Trail and hiking straight up the valley to Wheeler Peak Campground and environs; or simply ignoring the restriction (a reasonable consideration according to a very knowledgable local source, but not an option we can endorse). Don't miss the Mather Overlook along the way. From either the Summit Trailhead or the Wheeler Peak Campground you can hike to the Wheeler Peak Bristlecone Pine Grove. This "Magic Grove" comprises some of the oldest trees in the world. The non-technical Summit Trail actually reaches the 13,065-foot summit, highest point in the park. Naturally there are some other such bristlecone pine groves in the park (as well as in the heights of many other mountain ranges in Nevada, Utah, and eastern California), but they are accessible only via long, steep hikes. And of course there are many lower-altitude trails in the park, supporting activities such as fishing, visiting Upper Pictograph Cave (ancient Native American art, c. 1300–1000 BCE) near Baker Creek Campground (our favorite developed campground in the park, apart from Wheeler Peak), and star-gazing. The International Dark-Sky Association has designated the park a Dark Sky Place. The low humidity, minimal light pollution, and high elevation together equate to an extremely clear window on the universe. Ranger-led astronomy programs are typically offered May through September on Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday nights between Memorial Day and Labor Day. These programs are free of charge and no reservations are required — but entrance is closed when the parking lot is full. The bigger your motorhome the earlier you should go. Each program begins with a ranger talk at the Astronomy Amphitheater followed by ranger-led telescope viewing. The park and the Nevada Northern Railway in Ely, Nevada, have partnered to offer the Star Train. Riders begin their journey at the train station in Ely. Great Basin NP's "dark rangers" are aboard to deliver facts and answer questions. The train stops outside town so passengers can disembark and look through high-powered telescopes to see planets, deep space objects, and more. The train returns to the Ely rail station later that evening. Tickets are required. Go to Nevada Northern Railway's website to learn more about the train and reserve your spot. The trips sell out early!

Head east on Highway 50 — the "Loneliest Road in America", which is the Nevada stretch of US 50, the "Lincoln Highway" — to cycle through Utah's Mighty Five National Parks: Arches, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, Bryce, and Zion. To take in the Mighty Five you might want to plan a one-way campervan or motorhome rental between Las Vegas and Denver, Colorado, or Salt Lake City, Utah.

Between Capital Reef and Bryce be sure to drive the Scenic Byway 12, known as "A Journey Through Time Scenic Byway". This 122-mile road from Torrey in the northeast to Panguitch in the west is designated an All-American Road (only a third of America's scenic byways get this distinction) and is perhaps the greatest scenic road all in the world. Seriously. Climb into the Dixie National Forest from Torrey. Stop at the scenic overlook near the road's apogee at about 9000 feet. The view is staggeringly broad, deep, colorful and complex, involving the Henry Mountains, Grand Staircase-Escalante and Capitol Reef. Multiple state parks (Kodachrome Basin, Escalante Petrified Forest, Anasazi State Park Museum) and scenic backways (Cottonwood Canyon, Hole-in-the-Rock, Burr Trail, Hell's Backbone) add to the possibilities.

Consider taking Highway 14 to Cedar Breaks National Monument. And don't miss the Zion Overlook, directly on the highway at its 10,000-foot summit. The descent to Cedar City is breathtaking and leaves you northeast of Las Vegas by just 2.5 hours of interstate driving.

But not so fast.

About 40 miles west of Cedar City is a marvelous, diverse yet very tight constellation of Nevada State Parks that are worth visiting: Beaver Dam (very wild, high-desert hiking, animal watching, and camping); Kershaw-Ryan (a canyon oasis), Cathedral Gorge; Echo Canyon; and Spring Valley.

West of the Las Vegas Strip by 30 minutes is Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. Here you can totally leave the city behind, hiking miles of desert mountain trails and cooling off in crystal clear, spring-fed streams. Immediately south at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park the desert gives way to grassy plains and trees. In the summer the Super Summer Theater here presents live music and theatrical performances.

An hour west of Las Vegas in the town of Pahrump, Wine Ridge RV Resort offers one of the region's most beautiful settings for an RV park. Great place from which to savor the scenic vineyards and the excellent Pahrump Valley Winery. Families will be right at home in Nevada Treasure RV Resort, with its bowling center, putting green, and bi-level swimming pool. Lakeside Casino & RV Park boasts a 10-10-10 star rating from Good Sam RV Club and is truly one of the loveliest RV parks in the USA. Amenities here include kayaks, pedal boats and 24/7 casino and bar. Also consider Saddle West RV Resort.

You are now on the doorstep of Death Valley National Park. Check your RV rental terms and conditions relative to the date to learn whether you are allowed to drive the rental motorhome or campervan into Death Valley while you're there. The place is called Death Valley for a reason. The valley is a long, narrow basin, 282 feet below sea level, yet it is surrounded by high mountains. Temperatures here can easily soar past 110 degrees Fahrenheit (43 degrees Celsius), especially in summer when the park reaches over 110 degrees every day almost. Make sure you are very well prepared. While there you will need to drink at least 4 liters of water per day to replace loss from sweat. Drink more if you are active. Do not hike in low elevations when temperatures are scorching. Obey the road rules and stay on sealed roads. Get up early to beat the heat and take in the sunrise. The sunrises and sunsets in Death Valley are the stuff of dreams.

Just west of Death Valley are the Sierra Nevada Mountains, crowned by Mount Whitney, tallest peak in the contiguous United States, at 14,505 feet. Be sure to visit Sequoia National Park and Kings Canyon National Park there on the east side of the mountain — where the mountains relieve the air of almost all water and the most massive trees on earth grow: the Sequoiadendron giganteum redwoods (not to be confused with Sequoia sempervirens, the redwoods of the Northern California coast).

Oh, and Yosemite National Park sits just 3.5 hours north of Kings Canyon. Quite the afterthought, right?!

Motorvana Las Vegas Camper Van Hire Reviews

Cannot Wait to Return

We loved our road trip with Native Campervans and can’t wait to return as a customers for our next trip! I had a few questions before our trip and always received quick and friendly email responses. Pick up in Las Vegas was a breeze after a 15 min ride from the Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (formerly called McCarran). It seemed that we were on the road in no time! We had no issues while on the road for the week. We travelled to Zion, Bryce Canyon, Red Rock State Park, and Death Valley in March. We had some cool weather with temps in the 20s for a couple nights, but we were comfortable in the van and didn’t even need to use the heater at night. The van fit our needs perfectly and drop off was easy as well! We can’t recommend Native Campervans enough! They made our babymoon an experience we will never forget!

We WILL do it again

We rented a Road Bear Class A RV for 5 months.

This is the second time we have used Motorvana and, to be honest, they are the only people to deal with. Their expertise and attention to detail meant that I had paid for everything before I picked up the RV. Things like the generator use had been explained to me. There were no hidden costs whatsoever.

We picked up (and dropped off) the RV at the Road Bear facility in Las Vegas. It was brand new and in immaculate condition - it was a Thor ACE Class A. There were a couple of niggles during my initial inspection but the excellent Road Bear staff sorted them out immediately.

Brian Masson, Scotland/Netherlands

Great Experience

Motorvana was great. Rate was definitely lower than if I did it direct. Everything was taken care of in terms of the payments and all we had to do when picked up the RV was how to use it. We're first timers so it was overwhelming and the staff at El Monte Las Vegas was awesome and understanding and she explained well to us. The RV itself was great. It had everything we needed and performed well.
