| Photocopies of passports
usually turn out too dark to pass Renault's muster — at least
after the faxing process adds its further degree of graphical noise
to the image. Electronic scanning, on the other hand, produces a nearly
perfect image of a passport. Moreover, you can share this image file with a
family member or friend so that if you lose your passport while abroad,
you can have your passport image e-mailed to you to facilitate a swift
re-issue of your passport by your country's consulate.
If you don't have easy access to a flat-bed scanner, just take your
passport to a local copy shop; they can scan it and e-mail the
image to you, and you in turn can e-mail it to IdeaMerge and perhaps to a
confidant as suggested above.
