  extras: el monte rv

All the El Monte vehicles have an automatic transmission, dash and roof (110 V) air conditioning, stove burners, microwave oven, sink, refrigerator, freezer, furnace, toilet, generator and 110 V hook-up.

The nightly rental rate includes unlimited generator usage (the generator output being 110 V, 30–45 amps).

Included in the preparation fee are the first tank of propane, the first supply of toilet chemicals and toilet paper, a water hose, sewer hose, leveling blocks, and the final cleaning of the outside of the vehicle.

Also included are the vehicle operation manual (in English and German) and — per request upon the pick-up occasion — a regional campground guide and KOA discount card (giving customers a 10% discount). Map booklets (including directions to the nearest supermarket and fuel stations) might also be available as such, but this is not guaranteed.

The vendor provides free storage of clients' luggage at their depots (but at the clients' risk).

Sorry, but camping tables and "walkie-talkies" (i.e. RF communications devices) are not available for rental.

If you want your El Monte RV rental to include any of the following, you should order such items upon placing a reservation. (Availability of the items cannot be guaranteed unless they are pre-ordered, i.e. booked before the pick-up day.) Our online order software will prompt you in this regard. The cost of any pre-booked items is subject to tax, which extra cost our software does include in the total price presented to you.

  • Garmin nüvi® 370 GPS navigator: This new model comes loaded with high-resolution maps of both North America and Europe, integrated with a traffic-conditions receiver and a points-of-interest (POI) database customized by IdeaMerge! The IdeaMerge deal: US$ 5 per day, plus US$ 69, with option to buy it for US$ 449 minus the rental cost; includes POI customization, handling, and FedEx shipping to and from you. The GPS rental duration depends on your residency. For residents of the USA the duration commences two days after you receive the Garmin nüvi 370, and ends with the commencement of a 4-business-day grace period in which IdeaMerge expects to receive the unit back from you (i.e. you have a couple of days to get the item into the hands of FedEx after you return home). For residents of other countries the GPS device will be delivered to the motorhome rental pick-up depot or else to a hotel you name to us; such clients need to return it to IdeaMerge upon completion of their roundtrip or one-way motorhome rental, i.e. before they leave the USA, per the instructions we will provide. To return said unit to IdeaMerge, you will place the unit — including all the accessories and the manual — in the original shipping box, afix thereto the included pre-paid 2nd-day-service FedEx "stamp," and give the package to FedEx or perhaps by agreement to the motorhome rental depot (who would in turn give it to FedEx). (IdeaMerge is not charged for said stamp unless the stamp is used to send such item to us.)

  • mileage package: The IdeaMerge online reservation software will determine and suggest to you the optimal mileage/km solution for the number of miles/kms you plan to drive. Miles can be pre-booked in blocks of 100 miles (166 kilometers) costing US$ 25 each, plus tax. Unlimited miles are available for rental durations of 14 nights or more, at a cost of US$ 700 for the first 14 nights and US$ 30 per night thereafter. However, for the AD39 and AP39 (or any of the alternative big, diesel pusher models) no mileage package is offered; rather the miles will be estimated and charged upon pick-up of the rental vehicle, at US$ 0.39 per mile plus tax. Upon the return occasion miles beyond any pre-booked number are charged at US$ 0.32 per mile for the C25, C26, C28, CS30 and FS31; US$ 0.34 per mile for the AS32 and AF34; US$ 0.36 per mile for the AB35; US$ 0.37 per mile for the FM31; or US$ 0.39 per mile for the AD39 and AP39 (or alternative diesel pusher models).

  • standard shuttle transfer: The shuttle service is not available at Denver; and at Seattle / Vancouver the service is available in connection with Vancouver airport area hotels only (not with the Seattle area), this for a cost of US$ 80 each way, plus US$ 6 fee to be paid (in US$ cash to the US government) at the border when crossing in to the USA from Canada. (Due to increased security and traffic, delays crossing into the USA are possible. El Monte RV is not responsible for refunds of any type as a result of border delays.) Otherwise the shuttle service is free of charge. The client opting for this service must call the rental depot directly no later than 9:30 am the morning of motorhome pick-up, this to schedule transfer and the precise pick-up time. The shuttle arrives between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm (or at the Vancouver airport area about 11:30 am) at designated hotels only. … Transfer from the rental depot following the return occasion occurs between 8:00 and 13:00 (8 am and 1 pm), although at the Seattle / Vancouver depot the shuttle departs about 10:00 am; these return transfers typically stop at the airports as well as at the airport area hotels. … Delays may occur during peak season and certain holiday periods; no refunds are given for transfer delays. Transfers are provided as a courtesy and are not financially negotiable or refundable. Transfers to the rental depot may occasionally be subject to restrictions or limitations beyond El Monte RV’s control. In such circumstances, transfers may be the financial and logistical responsibility of the renter.

  • priority am departure (PAD): This option guarantees a departure-ready motorhome by 11:00 am, this for a one-time surcharge of US$85. PAD departure must be booked at least 7 days in advance and is not available at Dallas, Denver and Seattle / Vancouver. The PAD shuttle service is restricted to those hotels designated as PAD shuttle hotels by El Monte RV. Upon arriving at the hotel, clients should call 800 337 2199 for recorded detailed instructions. To meet the shuttle, clients must be at the designated point mentioned. The PAD shuttle typically arrives between 7:15 am and 8:00 am, although it may need to arrive as early as 6:45 am. There are no refunds for PAD surcharge if El Monte RV does not receive PAD hotel information 7 days prior to pick up.

  • rental liability insurance (RLI): The El Monte RV rentals do not automatically include the minimum legal amounts of primary liability (i.e. third party) insurance, which minimums vary between state, province and territory. Such coverage must be attached to the rental via one of the following actions: upon the pick-up occasion, a renter (i.e. client) who is a resident of the USA or Canada must present to El Monte RV proof of his/her personal automobile insurance policy (including policy number and, if his/her insurance company requires one or if the rental RV is a diesel pusher model, a separate rider); or a renter who cannot present such proof or a renter who is not a resident of the USA or Canada must pre-purchase (e.g. via IdeaMerge) El Monte RV's so-called Rental Liability Insurance (RLI), costing US$ 13.50 per night. Either sort of client mentioned above can supplement said liability coverage by purchasing Statutory Limit Insurance (SLI), which increases said minimum limits to US$ 1,000,000 per authorized driver of the rental vehicle. The SLI costs US$12 per night if pick-up occurs in Florida, US$ 13.50 per night if pick-up occurs elsewhere. Naturally certain exclusions apply, which include but are not limited to several of those described on our El Monte RV "Insurance" page.

  • mandatory vehicle incident protection: All IdeaMerge clients who book an El Monte RV rental must pre-purchase (via IdeaMerge) El Monte RV's Vehicle Incident Protection, because without this protection the client is responsible for the full cost of repairs made to the vehicle consequent of damages that occur to the vehicle during the rental (including the cost of El Monte RV's lost rental revenue while the vehicle is being repaired). We don't want any of our clients to suffer such potentially huge costs. The Vehicle Incident Protection costs US$ 16 per night (or US$ 35 per night for a "diesel pusher" A-Class vehicle) and reduces said responsibility to US$ 700 per incident (or to US$ 5000 for a "diesel pusher" A-Class vehicle). The damages covered by this protection include overhead damage, undercarriage damage, tire damage, wheel damage, damage which occurs when the vehicle is being backed up, theft of the vehicle, damage due to vandalism, fire, break-in, and weather, as well as animal impact, accidental damage to windows, and towing and recovery costs, all regardless of whose fault an accident was. The protection also typically covers costs of transporting a damaged rental vehicle to an El Monte RV rental station. Certain exclusions do of course apply, which exclusions include but are not limited to those described on our El Monte RV "Insurance" page.

  • mexico auto liability insurance (MALI): The El Monte RV vehicles are allowed to travel into Mexico if such travel is confirmed in advance and the client purchases directly from an USA El Monte RV rental depot (typically upon the pick-up occasion) the vendor's Mexico Auto Liability Insurance (MALI) to cover the specific range of dates during which the vehicle might be in Mexico. The cost of this MALI coverage is US$ 22 per such calendar date. Relative to travel in Mexico, MALI provides coverage for physical damage to or total theft of the El Monte RV rental vehicle, as well as third-party liability and medical payments, and legal assistance (especially to aid in preventing the client or clients from being jailed in Mexico). El Monte RV's Roadside Assistance does not extend into Mexico; and any repair costs, lost use, towing or fines incurred in Mexico are the client's (i.e. customer's, traveler's, renter's) responsibility and are not reimbursed by El Monte RV. No special authorization is required to travel into Canada, Yukon, the Northwest Territories or Alaska, but travel to the latter three regions is at the client's risk, as described elsewhere on our El Monte RV "Insurance" page.

  • additional drivers: There is a US$ 25 charge for each additional driver (although if pick-up occurs in California, this fee is not applied).

  • pet fee: If the client obtains permission from El Monte RV at least 7 days prior to the pick-up day, pets are allowed in the El Monte RV vehicles. However, a non-refundable fee of US$ 100 will be required upon pick-up. Moreover, the client is responsible for any damage caused by the pet, and a special cleaning fee might be charged upon the return occasion.

  • convenience kit: US$ 45 per person. Consists of bedding, towels and personal kitchen items: blankets, pillow and pillow case, sheets, face cloth, hand towel, bath towel, dinner plate, cup and saucer, knife, fork, and spoon.

  • kitchen kit: US$ 100 per vehicle. Consists of: mop, broom, dust pan, bucket, trash can, clothes hangers, set of pots, frying pan, salad bowls, platter, kettle, 4-piece cutlery set, corkscrew, bottle opener, potato peeler, strainer, water pitcher, and Dutch oven.

  • Again, the nightly rental rate includes unlimited generator usage (the generator output being 110 V, 30–45 amps).

  • one-way fee: see our El Monte RV "Locations" page and/or our online reservation software.

  • The following items are available for purchase upon the pick-up occasion only*; i.e. they cannot be booked; they are available on a first-come-first-served basis only (and they are not available at Denver).
  • camping chairs*: US$ 12 per chair
  • safety seat**: El Monte RV does not rent these; but see the info below.
  • snow chains*: US$ 20 per rental
  • toaster*: US$ 8 per rental
  • coffee machine*: US$ 10 per rental
  • iron and ironing board*: US$ 10 per rental
  • * Not available at Denver.

** Child safety and booster seats:

We can address these safety devices in terms of law or, more wisely, in terms of one or another more general and more conservative (i.e. child-conserving) consensus about child safety. Nevertheless please note that IdeaMerge is neither obligated nor qualified to present to clients nor to the general public the full set of relative laws nor the letter of those individual laws; the comments below, whether about law or consensus are merely intended to indicate the nature of the general issue of child motor vehicle safety. In many cases (such as Canada and the United States) the law applies based on the state, province or territory in which the vehicle is registered or in which a particular rental commences. In Canada such law is strictest in Quebec and in Ontario. Which is to say, these are the only provincial units in Canada that require booster seats. The general North American consensus considers booster seats necessary for children weighing 18–36 kg (40–80 lbs), forward-facing safety seats necessary for children weighing 9–18 kg (20–40 lbs), and rear-facing infant seats necessary for children weighing up to 9 kg (20 lbs). Age-wise these ranges correspond to 4.5 years through 7 years, 1 year up to 4.5 years, and 0 years up to 1 year. In Germany, however, the high-end figure is more conservative, in the sense noted above. German law puts this figure at up to 12 years or up to 1.5 m tall; French law puts it at up to 10 years. In Ontario a child need not use a safety seat if (a) his/her weight is over 36 kg (40 lbs) or (b) his/her age is over 8 years (i.e. he/she has turned 8 years old) or (c) his/her height is over 1.45 m (4 ft. 9 in.).… Generally a rear-facing safety seat should not be used in a seat equipped with a functional frontal airbag. Also generally speaking, children under 12 years old should sit in a rear seat.… In the context of the whole IdeaMerge Website it is appropriate to address a few more specific cases. The state of Washington in the USA is relatively strict: children up to 1 year old or less than 20 lbs must be seated in a rear-facing infant seat; children from 1 year old through 3 years old or 20–40 lbs must be seated in a forward-facing child seat; and children from 4 years old through 5 years old or 40–60 lbs must be seated in a booster seat (in the rear if the front passenger seat is equipped with an airbag). In the state of Oregon children from 0 through 3 years old or less than 40 lbs must be seated in a child seat, and children 4 years old through 5 years old or 40–60 lbs must be seated in a booster seat. In the state of California, children from 0 through 5 years old or less than 60 lbs must be seated in an appropriate child seat, perhaps a booster seat. In the state of Nevada children from 0 through 3 years old or weighing less than 40 lbs must be seated in a child seat. In the state of Colorado, children from 0 up to 1 year old or weighing less than 20 lbs must be seated in a rear-facing child seat; children from 1 year through 3 years old or 20–40 lbs must be seated in a front-facing child seat; and children from 4 through 5 years or less than 55 in. tall must be seated in a booster seat. In the state of New Jersey, a child 0 through 17 months old must be seated in a child seat; a child 18 months through 4 years old must be seated in a child seat if riding in front; and a child less than 8 years old or less than 80 lbs should sit in the rear, if rear seating is available.… In Australia a child from 0 up to 1 year old must be seated in a child seat, and this seat must be fitted with a top tether that is in turn attached to a suitable mounting point on the vehicle; other constraints apply per territory, but the general rules noted above should nevertheless be applied and are typically indicated by vehicle rental vendors. In New Zealand a child from 0 through 4 years old must be seated in an appropriate safety seat; a child from 5 through 7 years old must if seated in front be seated in a booster seat or, we are told, secured with an adult safety belt (although this latter option seems too lax); and again the general rules noted above should neverthless be applied and are typically indicated by vehicle rental vendors.
