The pick-up locations are all in France: Paris, Nice, Ajaccio (on Corsica), Angers, Lyon, Marseille, Toulouse, and Tours. (See the bottom of this page for further maps and directions.)

One-way rentals are allowed involving all these locations (Ajaccio excepted) and involving locations outside France! The minimum duration for extra-France returns is 10 days, although in some cases the vendor might impose a longer minimum on such one-way request. One way rentals to France are not possible; i.e. pick-up outside France is not offered. Regarding return to a location outside France: upon the pick-up occasion (or thereafter, per the client's request) Avis Car-Away and the client agree on a return point and time, e.g. a certain hotel in or near the return city.

Of course the IdeaMerge software figures the one-way fee into the total cost. Some example one-way fees are below.

Our reservation software will add such cost into the total cost of the rental.

Long before the pick-up date, we will send detailed directions to you regarding the pick-up location. Except at Paris City, you will have to make your own way to that location by taxi or by another form of transport. As for return, you will receive detailed directions upon pick-up.

The depots are open for pick-up or return Monday–Saturday 9am–11am and 2pm–5pm — except Angers and Marseille, which are closed Monday morning, and except Toulouse and Tours, which are closed all day Monday, and except Lyon and Marseille, which are closed Saturday afternoon, and except the duration July–August, when all the depots are closed Saturday afternoon and do not allow return to be booked for Saturday morning. If you choose a morning pick-up and an afternoon return, the vendor charges for the return day; otherwise the vendor does not charge for the return day. The depots are closed holidays, but our software checks against these closures.

Any extension of the rental duration requires prior authorization by the rental company; and no refunds are offered for early return of the rental vehicle.

At Paris City only, and from 8am–3pm only, and only if the customer provides a valid mobile phone number on which to be contacted by the transfer service, and only if booked at least 7 days in advance, private transport is available from/to the international airports, the Gare du Nord train station (where the EUROSTAR arrives/departs), other Paris train stations, and hotels in the city center (downtown). This service costs EUR90 each way for up to 4 passengers (EUR110 for up to 5 passengers, EUR130 for up to 6 passengers) and — if booked — must be booked upon placing a reservation. If bicycle(s) are involved, the initial figure increases by EUR40, the second by EUR40, and the third by EUR70. (Bicycles are not available for rent.)
