All Britz New Zealand camper rentals
include liability insurance
(i.e. third party) which also covers (although very partially) personal injury to
the client and to members of the client's party.
Also included is collision and
comprehensive insurance inhering a deductible (a.k.a. excess; applicable no
matter who is at fault) of NZD 7500 (NZD1800 for the Rookie), but
clients can reduce this figure by purchasing
one of two optional damage waivers (a.k.a. excess reductions):
These insurance options also have positive effects in terms of the security
deposit charged by Britz upon the pick-up occasion:
the default security deposit is
NZD 7500 (NZD 1800 for the Rookie) to be actually debited, i.e. charged;
damage waiver 1 (not available with the Rookie) reduces the amount
to NZD 2500; damage waiver 2 reduces the amount to
NZD 220 and entails a mere imprint rather than an actual debit.
For security reasons, only a credit card namely Visa, MasterCard,
or American Express can be used to provide the
security deposit.
The card holder must be present upon the pick-up
occasion and is jointly and severally liable for any damage to the
rental vehicle.
If the deductible/excess is reduced to zero, one windscreen and two tires are covered for accidental damage.
Damage to the overhead or underbody of the vehicle is not covered unless
the customer buys damage waiver 2 (noted above) and enhances that waiver
by purchasing the
no worries cover (instead of premium cover):
NZD 50 per 2WD rental or NZD 120 per 4WD rental, in addition
to damage waiver 2. For 4WD vehicles the
no worries cover furthermore reduces the deductible/excess all the way to zero.
Again, the IdeaMerge online reservation software will
determine whether the vendor's bonus pack is the best deal for the client, based
on the rental parameters chosen by the client.
The term comprehensive above signifies
vehicular damage due to vandalism, fire, theft of the vehicle, break-in, and weather,
as well as towing and recovery costs.
Importantly this term
also signifies the cost of the daily rental for the duration the vehicle
is off fleet for accident repairs (demurrage); which is to say, this cost
is considered a damage. The excess/deductible is applicable
no matter who is at fault;
but if the client is shown to be not at fault
and Britz is successful in recovering damages from the other party, the
client will be refunded appropriately (although such process can take several
months).
Exclusions:
Any water related damage, which includes but is not limited to: any vehicle submersion,
creek or river crossing, driving through low plain flooded areas, beach driving.
Personal belongings.
Damage to the awning, overhead or underbody of the vehicle insofar
as that damage is not consequent of collision with another vehicle or
of natural disaster and if the "no worries" cover has not been purchased.
Damage due to single-vehicle roll-over.
Damage due to use of incorrect (e.g. bio-diesel) or contaminated fuel.
Damage caused when using the vehicle in contravention of any
applicable legislation or regulations controlling vehicular traffic.
The cost to retrieve or recover a vehicle which has become bogged,
submerged, abandoned, or the like.
The cost to replace keys which have become lost, or retrieval of keys
which have been locked in a vehicle.
The insurance coverage is void if the terms of the rental
agreement signed between Britz and the client are breached by the client. The
client will then be responsible for the total cost of any damage,
including damage caused by negligence, willful misconduct
or driving under the influence of alcohol or other drugs, and
damage that occurs while
the vehicle contains more than the maximum number of occupants allowed
or while the vehicle is being driven by a person not identified on the
rental agreement or by a person whose drivers license is cancelled
or suspended or classified as a learner's or probationary license.
The vehicles may be driven on sealed/bitumen/macadam/paved or well
maintained roads only.
No vehicle shall be drive on Skippers Road (Queenstown), Ninety Mile
Beach (Northland), Ball Hut Road (Mt. Cook), Nort of Colville Township
(Coromandel Peninsula), and the Bluff Road that runs between Kuatunu and Mataurangi.
Maui reserves the right at its sole discretion
to restrict vehicle movements in certain areas due to adverse road or
weather conditions.
breakdown cover and repairs
For starters, the fleet of vehicles is modern and frequently upgraded,
the average age of a vehicle normally being less than 1 year.
All the vehicles do include 24/7 roadside service nationwide.
Any problems associated with the vehicle, including equipment failure,
should be reported to Britz
as soon as possible and within 24 hours, this to give Britz the
opportunity to rectify the problem as soon as possible. Failure to report
as such will compromise any client claims for compensation.
Britz does not accept liability for claims submitted after this duration.
In the event, please contact Britz toll-free at tel. 0800 831 900 (North Island)
or tel. 0800 304 304 (South Island).
Repairs costing up to NZD 100 may be effected without authorization from
Britz and will be appropriately reimbursed if the client provides the repair receipt
to Britz. For amounts estimated over NZD 100, the
client should obtain authorization from Britz. Receipts relating to
any repair should be sumbitted to Britz.
Warning
Although motor travel in New Zealand is not generally considered prohibitively dangerous, there are, of course, associated risks including death. For quantitative measures of these risks, please see the Association for Safe International Road Travel (ASIRT) http://www.asirt.org.
