The Apollo depots are open 7 days a week, from
8:00 am to 4:30 pm
but are closed on 25 December, 1 January, and Easter's Good Friday.
Clients should arrive no later than 4:00 pm.
In duration December–March the Alice Springs depot is closed Sundays
and the Broome and Darwin depots are closed weekends.
In the duration May–August the Hobart branch is closed weekends.
Pick-up (or return) is not possible at locations other than the
depots themselves. And clients must make their own way to and from the
depot(s), although the depot personnel will of course
call a taxi upon request.
Child safety seats or booster seats from overseas do not conform to the standards required
in Australia and New Zealand. Therefore clients should not bring their own such safety seats.
If clients have children that require child saftey or booster seats, the client should order a taxi
equipped with the appropriate such seats.
Minimum duration is 7 calendar days except for special peak periods when the pick-up occurs in
the span 15 December through 5 January, when the minimum duration
is 10 calendar days, and except for one-ways as noted below.
Apollo brand one-way rentals are free of charge
for rental durations of 21 days or more; otherwise they
cost AUD 250. In contrast, all Cheapa Campa brand one-way rentals entail a one-way fee of AUD 250.
Generally one-ways are subject to the following minimum durations:
Multiple rentals are also accommodated.
If via IdeaMerge a client rents separate Apollo
vehicles in Australia and/or in New Zealand and the pick-up dates are
within 92 days of each other, IdeaMerge will
apply to each rental a rate or rates based on the sum of the
durations (thus perhaps effecting long-term discounts).
Moreover, only one security deposit need apply to combined rentals if the
pick-up occurs in the same country and no damage or claim occurs to the rental(s) preceding the final combined rental.
Note: Given this policy and
the cost of transporting a vehicle between Australia and New Zealand,
such transport is prohibitively costly. Our online reservation software,
although highly specialized, does not
allow customers to place more than one reservation at once. Therefore
IdeaMerge will manually and at the client's request account
for multiple rentals as described above.
If after a rental has commenced the client wants to
change drop-off location, the client should first
obtain authorization from the destination depot.
Subject to such change being approved, Apollo would
levy a charge of AUD 700.
The Broome depot entails a remote-location fee of AUD 500
for pick-up or drop-off there, this
in addition to the one-way fee that may apply.
Only the HiTop
campervan and the 4WD Adventure Camper are available to be rented
from or to Broome.
A thorough explanation and demonstration of the rental vehicle will
be provided upon pick-up. This orientation, together with completion
of the relevant paperwork, requires close to one hour.
