Tax-free, short-term leases have the touch and feel of a rental but can be much less costly and, in many respects, much simpler. You book and pay for your lease before taking delivery, signing a contract which allows Renault to register and fully insure in your name the exact vehicle of your choice for the period you requested. Persons who can claim legal residence outside the European Union, who are 18 years of age or older and have had a valid drivers license for at least one year qualify for a tax-free, short-term (17-day minimum) auto lease. No maximum age limit applies. Tourists qualify for up to 175 days. Students, teachers, journalists, trainees, or employees undertaking a clearly defined mission in Europe and not normally residing in a European Union country might qualify for up to 360-days. Simply put, the lease plan is designed for visitors.

The insurance—consisting of civil liability, non-deductible comprehensive, collision, theft, vandalism, fire, and act-of-God coverage—and the factory warranty are air tight. (Upon returning a vehicle, customers are often amazed that Renault doesn't even bother at that point to inspect it for damage; but there's no reason for Renault to check the vehicle then, for the insurance and warranty fully protect the customer from financial responsibility for such damages.)
